What is Montessori method
- The Montessori Method of education, developed in 1907 by Dr. Maria Montessori: Italy’s first female doctor, opened the Casa dei Bambini (Children’s House) to provide education to low-income children in Rome. Instead of using traditional teaching methods she based her educational methods on scientific observation of children’s learning processes.
- Pinop Montessori focuses on aiding the development of the whole child. It is a philosophy in which the child learns best within a social environment that supports each individual’s unique potential.
- In the Montessori prepared classroom, children are free to walk around the room and choose materials and ask for demonstrations that they want.
- The teacher provides a link between the child and the prepared environment, introducing the child to each material when he or she is ready. The most important attribute of a Montessori teacher is the love and respect she holds for each child’s total being.
- At Pinop Preschool and day care, we believe that childhood is a happy, vibrant period of life when children are naturally motivated to investigate and explore everything around them.
- It is our mission to make every effort to provide a rewarding environment (home like experience) in which each child may develop according to his or her own individual abilities and needs.
